Week Ten Divine Lineup for the Ages (Dunce Cap)

Head to Head Tiebreaker (First Tiebreaker)

Results of these standings may change in the final two weeks of the regular season when the first tie breaker is factored in. If two people are tied in record the first tie breaker is their record against each other, if they are still tied it goes to points. If three or more people are tied it goes directly to points.

For Example:

If Joe and Samir both finish 11-5 the first tie breaker will look at who won the most in their matchups against each other. If they played each other twice and each won once, it will go to Total Points Scored.

If Joe, Samir and Lavern finish 11-5 the tie breaker goes directly to Total Points Scored.

Updates

2023

This year we added two spots to the league. There are now 14 people in the league. Rather than keep six playoff spots, this year we will be trying 7, to keep the it at 50% of the league. Since there is an odd number of people making the playoffs, we will be adopting the NFL's playoff format. 7 teams make the playoff and only the #1 seed gets a bye week. So the #2 seed would play the #7 seed, #3 plays #6, and # 4 plays #5.

With 14 players first place will take home $1000, second place takes home $300. The remaining money goes toward our weekly first place prize.

All other rules remain the same. See 2021/2022 updates below.

2021

This year we are trying out a new win/loss system. We all voted on this new system, and the vote passed unanimously. We will try it out for the 2021 season and readdress it next season.

So this year instead of just getting a win or loss each week, you will earn two wins, losses, or a combination of the two each week. You will earn a win or loss against your opponent, as usual, however you will also earn a win or loss based on where you finish in the total standings. Finish in the top six and you will earn a win. Finish in the bottom six and you will earn a loss. This system makes ties less likely, but will also make the pain of finishing second overall and losing because you just so happened to be playing the person that finished first overall.

The following is an example based on week one's match up last year:

1. Carlos (ephtup1) 96.3 vs. Toby (tbeatty54) 100

2. Jerry (deeznuttz247) 145.3 vs. Taylor (Reefguy) 111.7

3. Trevor (footytrev) 115.28 vs. Cole (coltenwilliams) 99

4. Gabe (gbmejia95) 142.4 vs. Lavern (lavernslusher) 117.9

5. Dave (dapro44) 116.74 vs. Joe (jtaran001) 114.8

6. Ray (soleray) 130.58 vs. Samir (doooookiepants) 99.1

In this scenario, everyone in bold would earn a win. The scores ranked from highest to lowest are:

1. Jerry (deeznuttz247) 145.3

2. Gabe (gbmejia95) 142.4

3. Ray (soleray) 130.58

4. Lavern (lavernslusher) 117.9

5. Trevor (footytrev) 115.28

6. Dave (dapro44) 116.74

7. Joe (jtaran001) 114.8

8. Taylor (Reefguy) 111.7

9. Toby (tbeatty54) 100

10. Samir (doooookiepants) 99.1

11. Cole (coltenwilliams) 99

12. Carlos (ephtup1) 96.3

Based on these rankings, everyone in bold would earn a win. As you can see Lavern lost his match against Gabe, however he finished in the top six overall. So he would earn a loss for losing to Gabe, and a win for finishing in the top six. on the other hand, Toby won his match up, but finished in the bottom six. So he would earn a win for beating Carlos, and a loss for finishing in the bottom six. Those that won their match up and finished in the top six would earn two wins, while those that lost their match up and finished in the bottom six would earn two losses.

The records based on this week would be:

1. Jerry: 2-0

2. Gabe: 2-0

3. Ray: 2-0

4. Dave: 2-0

5. Trevor: 2-0

6. Lavern 1-1

7. Toby: 1-1

8. Joe: 0-2

9. Taylor: 0-2

10. Samir: 0-2

11. Cole: 0-2

12. Carlos: 0-2

2020

Once again we are doing the $10 division winners side pool this year. Its a quick and easy one time buy in that will last through the Super Bowl. Everyone will pick one team per division that you think will make the playoffs and rank them 1, most likely to win the Super Bowl, to 8, least likely to win the Super Bowl, so 8 teams total. You will earn points based on how well each team does through the Super Bowl.

The scoring is as follows:

Your #1 team: 8 points

Your #2 team: 7 points

Your #3 team: 6 points

Your #4 team: 5 points

Your #5 team: 4 points

Your #6 team: 3 points

Your #7 team: 2 points

Your #8 team: 1 point

As you can see the scoring is a bit different from last year. For example, if you had the Patriots as your #1 ranked team, you would receive 8 points if they made the playoffs, and 8 points for each round of the playoffs they make it through. Then if you had the Chiefs as your #2 team, you would receive 7 points if they made the playoffs, and 7 points for each round of the playoffs they make it through. If one of your teams wins the Super Bowl, you will receive however many points you would receive for the slot you have them in.

Just like last year, if anyone with a chance to win is tied going into the Super Bowl I will ask the tied players to pick a point spread before the game starts (how many points the winning team wins by). i.e. a score of 24-17 would have a 7 point difference. The first and second tie breaker will use the ranked list. Whoever has the winning team ranked higher on their list will win. If any tied players have the winning team ranked the same, we will do the same thing for the losing team. If the remaining tied players have the losing team ranked the same we will then use the point spread I mentioned above. If it is somehow still a tie the pot will be split among the tied players.

2018

The buy in this year is $108* because we added an element to the league. Each week the person that has the highest weekly score on Fanduel will earn $10. At the end of the season I will tally up how many 1st place wins each person had and send them $10 for each win. I held a vote during the off season on how exactly to handle it. Remove 3rd place and increase the weekly prize from $5 to $10 won 7 to 5.

In the rare event two people tie in a weekly score, that weeks prize will be split among the tied players.

This year I am posting the entire seasons schedule at the start of the season, you can see who you will be playing each week at the beginning of the season. To view any previous or future opponent click "TFF 2018" on the right hand side of this page, then click the week you want to view. I'd recommend doing this on a computer as its easier however if you are viewing this page on a smartphone it is still possible. On a mobile device scroll down to the VERY bottom of the page and click "Standard View." You will then see "TFF 2018" on the right side, from there follow the above instructions.

*If you are entering the side pool we are doing the buy in is $118, the extra $10 is the buy in for the side pool.

Rules & Structure

There are a few quick rules I want to go over:

1. No sharing line ups before the games start on Sunday.

2. Each week your match up will be posted on this site. Make sure you only enter the match with your name on it. We will once again be using the Fanduel league system however if for any reason an issue arises that requires us to revert to our old system here is how it works: You will see a match up for 3 players. I am putting myself in each match up so I can keep track of Win/Loss, points, and making sure both players join. My score will only matter against the person I am actually matched against for the week.

3. If you fail to set a line up by 10am pacific, 1pm eastern. You will forfeit the week and take a loss.

4. If you forget to set or save your lineup it is a loss, however I will let you know and if you respond to my text I will set up an afternoon match so you can still accumulate tie breaker points toward the end of the season. These points can be the difference between a playoff spot and just missing it so if you screw up at least take advantage of this offer. THE BEST WAY TO AVOID THIS THOUGH IS TO JUST MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR LINEUP AND DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU SAVED IT. TEXT ME AFTER YOU SET YOUR LINEUP EACH WEEK AND I WILL CONFIRM THAT IT IS SET.

5. Regarding lineup optimization tools: You are welcome to use these tools if you so choose however if the tool you use offers a "base" or "recommended" lineup you cannot flat out copy it. Your lineup must be at least 33% different, that's three of the nine players. Naturally, this is a difficult one to monitor. I know of a few sites that offer these tools and will monitor them weekly, however the honor system will come into play here. I trust each and every one of you guys, so please play with the integrity I know you all have. This one will be dealt with on a case to case basis, however if it becomes obvious someone is breaking this rule and I've already spoken to them, it will result in a loss.

6. League fees are due by August 30th. Please make sure you pay me on or before that date, its frustrating for both of us to be in a situation where I am hitting you up for money. Its awkward, you guys are close friends, lets not be awkward close friends. We are past the point of no return so since you all have verbally committed to the league, please follow through. I cannot find a replacement this close to the start of the season.

7. Remember the group text should only be used for texts relevant to the league, send your memes to people individually.

8. In the event two people tie in the Wild Card, or Semi Finals the tie will be broken by their head to head record against each other. If they played each other twice during the season and are still tied it will go to total points scored. If we have a tie in our Super Bowl the two players will play again the following week. If its still a tie, the tie will be broken by their head to head record against each other. If they played each other twice during the season and are still tied it will go to total points scored.

The structure of this league combines traditional fantasy football with Fanduel style. Each week you will draft a new line up based on the Fanduel values and structure.

Each week you will face off against one of the other players in the league. The player with the most points in each matchup will earn a victory for the week, while the loser gets a loss. Who you play any given week will be based on a round robin style system ensuring everyone plays each other. After 16 weeks, playoffs will begin. The 6 players with the best records will go on to the playoffs. If there is a tie in records, the tie breaker will be based on win/loss percentage of the matches between only the tied players. If the players are still tied the tie will be broken by counting the total number of points scored throughout the entire season. If more than 2 players are tied together, it will go directly to points. The player that accumulates the most points will break the tie and move on to the playoffs. Week 17 will be the quarter finals, 3rd vs 6th playing and 4th vs 5th playing. 1st and 2nd place will have a bye week. Wildcard Week will be the semi finals where the winners of the quarter finals will play vs 1st and 2nd. Divisional Playoff Week will be the Super Bowl where the two winning players of the semi finals compete for the 1st prize. The losers from the semi finals will play for 3rd.

With 12 players first place will take home $850, 2nd takes home $250.

I am happy to help any of you that need help however if you do need help please contact me before Sunday. If you call me Sunday morning 10 minutes before the games start with no clue how to set your lineup you may be screwed, and potentially take a loss. So please hit the website and set it before Sunday, then double check Sunday morning. I cannot guarantee you that I can set aside time to help you Sunday morning before the games start so as an official notice: If you need help, or have questions or problems let me know by Saturday Night (if there is a Saturday game, do it by Friday). You can always go back and change your lineup before the games start.

Every year we have an issue where someone does not save their lineup when they finished, as a result come game time they didn't have a lineup set. While this is NOT mandatory, and may not be necessary for some, I would HIGHLY recommend each of you text me after you set your lineup and I will confirm it is set. If you choose not to do this and forget to save your lineup you will take a loss for the week.
